I assume it's in reference to Damian's request for a duel. I almost want to say he thought I was the Bounty Leader when he wrote this, but I'm not completely certain about that.

It makes sense. More than Hannibal knowing the 10-year-old is your leader, anyway.

In any case, if that what he thought, then he was only half right. [her mouth twists into an amused smile, but it's a wry sort of amusement] I'm almost tempted to write him back and let him know that.

At any rate, what he says near the end concerns me. "I wish you luck in the remaining time. I'm not sure if it will be needed, necessarily, but I don't think that things will be easy." What does he mean by that?

[YEAH... Y e a h. Jason has no idea what that means, either, but his brows furrow as he jots down some honest guesses.]

Option A: He thinks you're going to get yourself killed like an idiot.
OR
Option B: We're on some kind of time limit and don't know it yet.

[both of those were guesses she had tbh, but she only focuses on one because one is INSULTING!!]

If it's option B, then Dr. Lecter somehow did know.

How would he have known, if that is the case?

He must have had a lot of merit stored up from being a nutbar, right? It might have been an answer to something he asked the Sheriff.

If we are under some sort of time limit, then why on Earth would the Sheriff not tell us that in the beginning? It seems like vital information, something we could learn without using up our merit.

There's a lot of stuff that seems like "vital information" we weren't privy to during the first weeks, remember? My guess is he doesn't care what we know, as long as we fulfill our purpose.

[And that's... being entertainment.]

Fair enough. I suppose having to earn our information makes the game more. . . ah.

If they're into watching people squirm, we're definitely prime time television. Might as well keep that in mind.

...Maybe he knows we've got trouble up ahead figuring out where to go without him. Though... guess that would mean he'd have to know he wasn't killed by the leader to end the game the normal way.

. . . it's obvious he knew he was going to die this week. I don't know how, though. And something else about this letter bothers me, especially if he really did think I was the Bounty Leader.

Might both be because of Will. That guy... he probably knew we were up to something, just like he could pick out who killed Chane.

We need to protect Natalie first and foremost. She's our doctor. With the Deputy dead, we may need to decide on someone else to bring back from the train.

I know. I'm not saying we should do anything to put her at risk. Just saying... letting will go after that person if it's possible, we should be careful.

We'll have to tread carefully. I imagine there are three killers this week-- two Bandits, and one independent kill.

[she pauses and lifts a hand to her chin]

Since one of the victim's was our Deputy, I've been wondering about the continued secrecy of our roles.

Telling everyone because the threat to us is gone. Telling them... who was responsible for the stocks and all that, too.

[he nods. he's not sure if it's a good idea, but they have less to lose, probably. maybe.]

Not everything. Damian's identity should remain a secret.

[PROTECT BOUNTY LEADER AT ALL COSTS]

And only one of us Bounties would need to come forward. I don't know how much of a benefit it would be, particularly if coming forward implicates us in the death of the Deputy. However. . .

Perhaps if we revealed the truth to the remaining players, we can finally pool our information and come to a solution.

It could still be risky, with someone like Ash still around.

[but all the same.]

It may be our best bet, though. We haven't gotten very far with things like they are right now.

With the Deputy dead, I'm not certain there's much of a need for our roles to remain secret anymore.
