I always put myself in destructive situations [W5, Friday]
[It took time. Everything took time as it always did. It took time for them to all calm down, it took time to heal physical wounds, it took time to properly remove the evidence of obscene crimes...but in the evening they were able to gather in one place away from everyone else. It hadn't been easy coordinating everything, but it was necessary.
And so here they were. All seven of them.]
...I don't really know where to start. [His voice is tight, but determined.] But we need everybody on the same page. Who wants to go first?

Whatever.
On a notebook, he writes down three sentences.]
Yuna got killed by coyotes. It was like they were hyper focused on ripping her to shreds. [Since, uh. Forehead aside? Both Jason and Milla came out of it alive.]
I don't know if there's anything else to be said about that.
[But discuss, anyway... And please read it out loud for Shinnosuke's sake, thank you.]

[why her? why just her—that's really foreboding in a way that rings dangerously familiar to him.
and his tone definitely reflects that.]

[her gaze suddenly becomes sharp, as some of the anger from earlier returns]
Do you remember what Damian said? About removing Yuna from the game?
no subject
[but he has to ask.]
Hey. Do we know if... these coyotes are actually real coyotes? [he's probably wrong about this, but he just doesn't want to rule it out.]
no subject
[places a hand on her hip]
Especially since Jason and I were left alive, even after we lost consciousness.
[and now you know why she wanted to murder a robot after she woke up this morning. she 100% believes Hal is responsible for Yuna's death]
no subject
[he says that with confidence.]
It means they're either trained to go after her scent... or they're programmed to do it. Robots, empty shells just like our Sheriff.
[she was absolutely targeted.]
no subject
[but, that said--]
Even if they aren't robots, they're a significant threat. Anyone staying outside after the sun sets should be extremely careful.
no subject
[he's just saying:] I've dealt with things like that. Soulless things that will target whoever they're told to, relentlessly. They'll die trying without retreating. They're focused.
I don't know if it's different, or if these are just scent trained. Either way... it means if there's more targets...
[it's a problem.]

Let's just hope the Sheriff doesn't decide to have anyone else with a key role removed for. . . "not participating to their fullest potential."
[she practically spits those words out]
no subject
[well, who the hell knows? it doesn't make it feel any better, though.]
no subject
[SURE MAKES HER WANT TO PUNCH A ROBOT]
Noctis.
. . . I apologize for my behavior this morning.

For now.

. . . Jason passed out first. He tripped after a coyote attacked him, and knocked his head on the stocks. I fell next, due to-- ah. . . my preexisting injuries.
[don't fight coyotes with broken ribs folks]
One of the creatures leaped at me. I blocked it with my arms, and Yuna. . . [. . .] She tackled the coyote away. It bit into her, causing a mortal injury, before she managed to kill it.
She-- bled out shortly afterwards. I held her hand before she went.
[how can she talk about this so calmly, especially considering her demeanor earlier??]
Russell was alive during this. Jason and I both fell unconscious at the stocks, but woke up in the clinic. Someone moved us during the night, though I can't remember who it was.
no subject
[What else can she say? That's...]
I'm glad you're... [Not okay, but.] Alive.
no subject
. . .thank you. [she. . . hesitates, remembering her conversation with Natalie after her and Xion's romp through the gunsmith]
I apologize. For worrying you, yet again. For not being able to save Yuna or Russell.
no subject
[It's said a little too quickly, and then she takes a breath and shakes her head.]
It's not your fault. Seriously.
no subject
[can]
[can she reach for Natalie's hand?? is Natalie also comforted by physical contact, she's about to find out]
no subject
Um...
no subject
Some people find comfort in physical contact. I'm not sure if you're one of those people, but I wanted to check.

no subject
[which is her way of saying she is one of those people who finds comfort in contact, but. if Natalie insists, she'll let go]

Though to add onto what Jason wrote:]
... When I was in the stocks, none of the coyotes went after me either. It might've just been because Yuna was fending them off, but...
no subject
Damian told me the Sheriff planned to kill her off. He tried to barter for her life. Didn't work out.
It doesn't sound like a coincidence.
no subject
... Does he know why the Sheriff wanted her dead? Because he knew we'd all lose it if someone like her was killed? Or because she wasn't doing her role right?
no subject
[Though both of those options make him feel sick to his stomach all over again.]
