[Izuku waves his hand, letting Percy follow him in. There's two cups of cocoa already set out on the kitchen table, and one of his notebooks and pens.]
[Following, following. He makes himself at home once they're in the kitchen and he has a seat, flashing a short, grateful grin at Izuku before a.) taking one of the cups and b.) glancing at the set of supplies on the table.]
You've been compiling your notes and stuff already? [Izuku really is like Annabeth, jeez.]
I guess. Note-taking's not really my strong suit. That was more Annabeth's thing. [He doesn't like talking about it though so he shrugs it off.] Plus a lot of stuff I see is pretty hard to forget anyway.
[Speaking of Annabeth... Izuku glances at Percy now, reminded that he should broach the subject somehow.
For now, though, he just pushes the notebook toward him. It's already open to the page on "Mermaids??" There's a sketch of the Nyxies, with a few notes jotted down on their behavior.]
It's not much. Just whatever I noticed when they bothered to check in on us.
[No he's fine, he doesn't have to talk about the Annabeth thing! It's not like Percy's obsessively going to hunt for her later. Really. Instead, he's taking the notebook and looking at them, frowning in thought. ]
...I wonder if they're related to whatever I couldn't see when I was down there. If they're not, then we have a couple of groups to deal with.
They can't ignore us forever. If they don't talk, we can always resort to bribery, too. That's worked before with some of the monsters I've met. I'm not sure what the mermaids here would like, but it wouldn't hurt to try it.

It's best to write it all down right after something happens so you don't forget any details, right?

Show me what you've got so far.

That's what I think. You said they had webbed hands, right? The mermaids we ran into had those, too.

I want to say they're the same, but knowing this place, they're probably just similar, but different species.

And if the mermaids [are they mermaids though] won't talk to us, maybe we'll find someone who will.
