It took time for them to all calm down, it took time to heal physical wounds, it took time to properly remove the evidence of obscene crimes...but in the evening they were able to gather in one place away from everyone else. It hadn't been easy coordinating everything, but it was necessary.

The beartrap is still in my room, underneath Yuna's bed. We never used it.

I picked it because he told me it might be useful to catch a killer somehow, and the lists aren't really... I mean, you know Hal. There hasn't been a great choice since the camera.

[Hence, well, deer.]

I thought the same. I even tried to get Yuna to use it to protect the stocks one week, but she-- well. . .

[she was Yuna. she was softhearted, and didn't want to hurt even a potential killer]

Considering our dwindling numbers, I think it may be time to cease playing nice with our Bandits and rogue no-role killers.

It's been time since this game started.

[Let them potentially maim all their murderers. It's fine.]

I can fetch the beartrap and set it up next week. The only problem is, of course, predicting where the killer may strike.

We never should have been doing that in the first place, so. Yeah. Beartrap it is, I chose it for a reason.

Out of curiosity, what were your other choices? I'm wondering how much our beloved Sheriff is laughing at us.

This week, the options other than deer were snakes, a bear, a giraffe, and bees. He said normal deer, so I thought... I don't know what I thought.

[She makes herself stop it there and move on.]

According to him, though, the only option that wouldn't have killed someone invariably was the bees. Go figure.

... And you had to choose something? [...] I'm not blaming you for anything, for the record. I just want to know the details of how your role works.

You can blame me if you want. It's probably fair.

[Her eyes drift to Sei's sword at his side for a moment before she shakes her head slightly to snap herself out of it.]

Yeah. Not choosing isn't an option.

Unless you maliciously sent that deer knowing Seizaburo was going to be an idiot and get himself killed, it doesn't matter.

[Sei's death hurts—a lot, and more than Shinnosuke will ever admit to anyone but Yuna, who's dead now—but he doesn't hold Natalie responsible.]

Figures. [...] What were some of the other choices in the past?

[She doesn't really agree - she should have been more careful, should have asked better questions, should have done something. This was preventable. She doesn't comment on it further, though, just nods.]

The full list of stuff that's been on a list but I haven't chosen, other than the ones I already mentioned, is a crowbar, flashlight, cyanide, stun baton, and USB stick. The same stuff usually keeps popping up in different lists.

Well, if those stuff pop up often, maybe we can figure out right now how we could use any of them. Right now, determining what to do with the items has been a weakness of ours.

...He told me the next list is going to be full of stuff that could actually help. In exchange for the - animals.

... Here's hoping, but who knows what the hell's running through that piece of junk's mind?

[She shakes her head.]

He wouldn't lie about it. He's an asshole, but not that particular brand of asshole.

I don't think he's necessarily lying, but... I'm not sure if I trust that what he thinks will help us will actually help us.

Then again, it might be that I probably trust us less. We suck at dealing with the items.

...Yeah, that's fair. I'll make sure to ask him more questions about everything on the list this week, either way.
